Police identified the fatality as Erwin Abetong, 21, a resident of Hacienda Carmen, Barangay Granada.
Captain John Christopher Masangkay, commander of Police Station 5, said the body of the victim was found lying by a concerned citizen at about 6:10 a.m. with a stab wound on his chest.
Police recovered from the scene of the crime a bladed weapon and a pair of slippers.
Masangkay said they are eyeing a grudge as a possible motive in the killing of the victim which was perpetrated by more than two suspects.
He said the victim, who has no record at Police Station 5, was allegedly receiving threats through social media before he was killed, adding that they are still conducting further investigation to determine the identity of the suspects.
Masangkay noted that at about 1 a.m., a resident near the area heard a commotion where the body of the victim was found, believing that it was well-planned to kill him in the area.
For her part, Jenny Ann Deocampo, 32, live-in partner of the victim, said their friend informed her that Abetong was found dead at Crossing Carmen.
She said they have no idea as to the identity of the suspects, adding that Abetong was also receiving a threat on Facebook.
Deocampo also asked the police to conduct a thorough investigation to give justice in the killing of the victim.*
