This was disclosed by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez on Tuesday, October 18, as he disclosed that the officials of SM Group and Nestle Philippines informed him that their revenues are already increasing.
Speaking at the Media Night organized by the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, Benitez said SM noted an upward trend of the accommodations [of their hotel] as well as their department store, supermarket and mall [sales].
In fact, he said that the SM’s management told him that they surpassed their Iloilo counterpart, especially after holding the MassKara Festival event.
“We did not come short in the expectation, in fact we did more (and) this is the first time that from beginning all the way to end, we were full of activities and all of the events (at the seven festival sites) properly attended,” Benitez added.
The mayor said that he always set his target, and before the elections he was only asking for three years to do his best and surpass the achievement of Iloilo.
Benitez noted that Nestle Philippines informed him that their Western Visayas market share in Bacolod City was at 33 percent while in Iloilo City was only at 31 percent.
“So, this is probably the result of the hard work that we have done in Bacolod,” he said.
To ensure the continuous engagement in all the business establishments here, he added, they are planning to conduct activities in December.
“Hopefully, this will continue to the years to come,” especially that he already noticed that there has been a high increase of business confidence in the present administration.*
