The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez; Councilor Claudio Puentevella, chairperson of the City Council committee on health; Dr. Christine Marie Puey, of the Metro Bacolod Hospital and Medical Center; and Cherry Pink Nonato, of the South Bacolod General Hospital.
Puey said they are thankful to the city government for giving them an opportunity to be part of the city’s project.
“We wish for the success of the program and we promise full support to it,” she said.
Nonato also expressed her gratitude to Benitez to be part of the city’s program in serving the people of Bacolod.
“Rest assured that the hospital will continue to support the programs of Bacolod City,” Nonato told Benitez.
Bacolod City launched its comprehensive health program at the Bacolod Government Center on July 19 this year.
Benitez, for his part, congratulated the hospital partners for taking the initiative of the city government mainly aimed at medical assistance to the underprivileged and those who don’t have an easy access to the medical services.
Benitez said it’s one of his promises to improve the delivery of the city’s healthcare services by allocating a budget for health and establishing the BacCHP.
He said BacCHP contains additional features as it aims to ensure the delivery of an integrated health care system that includes preventive, promotive, and curative healthcare coverage by maximizing resources and programs of the government.
The mayor noted that the private hospitals will now accept BacCHP holders without the need of any deposits or any other requirements to be submitted for the patients admission.
“This becomes an easier way for them to be able to access medical attention through this BacCHP program,” Benitez said.
He said that as of September 15, 2022, Bacolod City already registered a total of 10,000 BaCHP applicants.
The city will prioritize the indigent Bacolodnons, the mayor stressed.*
