“I think that (if the postponement pushes through) it will be the last,” Lacson said on the sidelines of the induction of officers of the first batch of punong barangays who took the Certificate of Public Administration and Governance Course at the Provincial Capitol’s Social Hall in Bacolod City Thursday, October 6, 2022.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Tuesday, October 5, said that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will probably sign into law the bill postponing the 2022 BSKE.
“The bill postponing the barangay and SK polls is most likely, very probable for the president’s signature,” Bersamin said in a statement.
Once signed by the President, the BSKE will be moved on the last Monday of October next year.
Meanwhile, Board Member Juvy Pepello, who represents the Liga ng mga Barangay at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental, reminded her fellow barangay officials to do their respective jobs with or without elections.
“We should do our jobs to serve our constituents,” Pepello said.
She also said that the postponement of the barangay and SK polls would be advantageous for those who are new to their positions but long overdue for those who have been there since 2010 who were given three extensions of terms.
Pepello explained that if there is no postponement of elections, today, October 6, is supposed to be the start of the filing of the certificate of candidacy.
Meanwhile, the official said that 50 punong barangays compose the first batch to get the Certificate of Public Administration and Governance or Masters in Public Administration for Barangay Executives courses for college graduates and Certificate of Public Administration for college non-graduates.
The scholarship program is provided by the provincial government to barangay executives, she added.
