Dr. Edwin Miraflor, city health officer-in-charge, said Friday, February 18, 2022, that the vaccination was conducted at the Riverside Medical Center, Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital, Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, City Health Office (CHO), and various schools.
“We are thankful for the support and cooperation of the parents for bringing their children to the vaccination sites (and) it’s a very encouraging turnout,” he said.
He added that so far, no adverse side effects have been reported among children who were inoculated since Monday.
On February 12, Bacolod City received about 10,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines from the Department of Health (DOH) for children five to 11 years old.
Miraflor said on February 21, the Emergency Operation Center will also open the vaccination sites in malls and barangays for children five to 11 years old.
However, he said they will have limited vaccines for this age group since they only received 10,000 doses, including those that will be utilized for the second dose that can accommodate 5,000 individuals.
“For now, we will prioritize those who registered only and children with comorbidities,” the doctor said.
The City Government is still waiting for the delivery of the second batch of the Pfizer vaccines from the DOH, which is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2022.
On the target population data from DOH-Western Visayas, Bacolod City has a total of 80,000 children aged five to 11.
Of the figures, the city was given a target of 45,000 children to be inoculated against Covid-19.
“We will negotiate with other areas in Western Visayas with slow moving vaccination if we can borrow their Pfizer vaccine supply,” Miraflor said.
Miraflor further said Bacolod City also topped in the third leg of the National Vaccination Drive in Western Visayas with the highest number of vaccinees percentage.
He said Bacolod recorded a 66.98-percent accomplishment rate by inoculating 22,949 individuals from February 9 to 15, 2022.
It was followed by Capiz with 54.70 percent; Negros Occidental with 43.34 percent; Iloilo Province with 37.43 percent; Aklan with 33.62 percent; Antique with 31.61 percent; Guimaras with 28.69 percent; and Iloilo City with 20.09 percent.
