Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of the City Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), said Sunday, February 20, that the test results of the residents were confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH).
“This is indicated by the result of the Batch 59 genome sequencing conducted by the Philippine Genome Center released on February 19,” Sorongon said.
He said of the 15 patients, six of them were female and nine were male. Four of them were the elderly, one was a minor and 10 others were aged 25 to 57.
Four were from Barangay Taculing; two each in Barangays Handumanan and Estefania; three from Barangay Banago; and one each in Barangays 3, Tangub, Mansilingan and Bata.
Sorongon said the patients underwent swab tests on January 6 and 28. All of them have already recovered.
In January 2022, the Negros Occidental capital city recorded 21 more cases of Omicron variant.
