Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of EOC, said the figure was reflected in the record of the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas on Tuesday, February 22.
He said that on March 10, 2021, Bacolod City also logged zero case for the day.
“We attributed this to our effort to address the Covid-19 cases in the city,” he said, adding that “we strictly enforce the health protocols as well as the strategies to address the Covid-19 cases through the leadership of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and the members of the City Council.”
Sorongon cited some factors for the city’s successful management of Covid-19.
These included the systems and processes that are in place as provided for in Executive Order (EO) 59 and EO 83 like high population protection with 121 percent of the target already fully vaccinated; intensified PDITR + V strategies or PDITR + V or prevent, detect, isolate, treat, reintegrate + vaccination strategy.
He also mentioned the commitment and passion of the men and women of the EOC, Covid-19 Vaccination Council (CoVac), City Health Office (CHO), City Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and other frontliners, and the coordinated efforts of barangay captains and barangay health emergency response team (BHERTs), among others.
Leonardia, in a statement, also expressed his gratitude to Bacolodnons for heeding the City Government’s call for continued compliance to minimum health protocols despite the decline of cases the past several weeks.
He said the last seven days saw the drop of Covid cases to 14 and further slipped to 12, then to only 11 daily infections from Thursday until Saturday.
He added six cases were reported by the EOC-TF on Sunday and zero on Monday evening.
“This is testimonial to the Bacolodnons’ full cooperation as we continue the fight against the pandemic. Credit also goes to our EOC Task Force, headed by former councilor Em Ang, and health frontliners,” Leonardia said.
The mayor reiterated that “we must learn how to live with the virus and adjust to it accordingly and cautiously.”
As of February 21, the city still has 400 active cases which form part of the total 27,774 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
DOH-Western Visayas records showed that 76,536 have recovered while 828 died due to the disease in the city.
