The call came from Dr. Chris Sorongon, Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center deputy for medical and data analysis yesterday, February 6, saying that this will serve as their preparation for the face-to-face (F2F) classes.
For now, Sorongon said, they are preparing the school’s gymnasiums for the vaccination of children five to 11 years old on February 14.
But he said that they need a big space for the vaccination site in the anticipation that these children will be accompanied by their parents during their inoculation.
EOC records showed that fully vaccinated individuals in Bacolod City already reached 131.09 percent or about 550,000 of the city’s total population.
Earlier, Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier said that Bacolod City can now be considered a “population protected” against Covid-19.
In terms of the city’s total population, Bacolod’s vaccination rate is over 91 percent, which Leonardia said is one of the highest in Western Visayas region.
Supposedly, the vaccination for five to 11 years old was on February 4 and 5 in Metro Manila, however, there was a delay in the delivery of the vaccine.
So far, the EOC has started the master listing of children aged five to 11 years old in preparation for the vaccination and it may reach 90,000 children or more.
Pfizer vaccines will be utilized for children aged five to 11 years old and it is different from the Pfizer vaccine that is being used for adults which only contain 0.2 ml dose.*
