Noccpo spokesperson Lieutenant Abegael Donasco said invitations have been sent out to the provincial candidates, including congressman, governor, vice governor and provincial board members.
The covenant states that the candidates shall abide by the principle that sovereignty resides in the people and all government authority emanates from them and that they will uphold by the Constitution, obey all laws/ordinances of the land that includes pertinent Commission on Elections (Comelec) memorandal resolutions for the conduct of a clean, honest, accurate meaningful and peaceful election.
The candidates are also urged to observe and focus on their respective platform of government and to refrain from attacking the personal lives of their fellow candidates during the campaign period.
Candidates are also prohibited from engaging in vote-buying activities, all forms of election fraud, use of threats, spending beyond what lawfully permitted during the campaign and be held accountable for the actions of their election/campaign leaders
The candidates will also pledge to accept nobly the results of the election and respect whatever will be the decision of the people.
Several localities in Negros Occidental have already started the covenant signing of the candidates for mayor, vice mayor and councilors.
Meanwhile, Provincial Comelec Acting Supervisor lawyer Roberto Salazar said he will conduct a Provincial Joint Security Control Center meeting, also at Noccpo Headquarters, after the covenant signing.
It will be attended by Provincial Director Colonel Leo Pamittan and 303rd Army Brigade Commander Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, Salazar said.
During the meeting, Salazar will discuss Comelec activities and security preparations for the coming polls, he said.
