This was confirmed Sunday, January 16, by Em Ang, executive director of Emergency Operations Center Task Force (EOC-TF), after the Department of Health (DOH) earlier released its advisory for quarantine and isolation of Covid-19 patients.
Citing the advisory, Ang said fully vaccinated asymptomatic Covid-19 patients can undergo isolation for seven days and they can be considered as having completed the isolation.
She, however, said the EOC-TF consulted with infectious disease specialists along with the doctors to study the city’s Covid-19 situation including its isolation facilities.
“So, we have come up with a consensus that instead of seven days, we will stick with the 10 days of isolation,” Ang said.
The official explained that if asymptomatic Covid-19 patients are fully vaccinated, they can complete the isolation in 10 days’ time instead of the previous 14 days, unless they are symptomatic.
For fully vaccinated healthcare workers, she said they should complete the five days isolation instead of the previous 14 days. After their isolation, they should submit their return-to-work order from the hospital.
Ang added the EOC-TF will also allow home isolation since majority of the new cases in the city are asymptomatic and subject to compliance with certain requirements.
She noted that asymptomatic Covid-19 patients can make a request with the EOC-TF for home isolation.
Among its requirements is that the household must be fully vaccinated while the Covid patient should have a separate room.
It will be inspected by the EOC team along with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
