NEGROS Occidental Fifth District Representative Ma. Lourdes “Marilou” Arroyo and three mayors in the district have expressed support to the bids of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for president and vice president, respectively.
“I am for Bongbong Marcos-Sara Duterte unity,” Arroyo said, saying that she will campaign for the tandem.
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio may visit Negros Occidental by January 2021, depending on the situation, she said.
She added that she is hopeful that local chief executives in the Fifth District will also support them.
The mayors of the Fifth District who expressed support to the Marcos-Duterte tandem were Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan of La Castellana, Ella Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, and Raymond Tongson of Himamaylan City who is the Visayas head of volunteers of the tandem.
Meanwhile, Arroyo distributed 117 electronic trikes to all the barangays of the district Friday as fulfilment of her promise to the punong barangays that they will receive special gifts from her this Christmas.
She said all the barangay captains, whether they are her supporters or not, received the e-trikes.
The distribution was held at the Isabela Socio Cultural Center and was attended by Mangilimutan, Garcia-Yulo, Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol and Isabela Mayor Irene Montilla.
Tongson, who was in Manila, sent his video message during the program.
After the distribution, the barangay captains drove their respective e-trikes and held a caravan around the town with Arroyo.
