Lacson, however, said he will not issue any executive order to compel Capitol employees to be vaccinated.
He said they will continue convincing the provincial government employees to be vaccinated or map out other policies to encourage them just like what other local government units (LGUs) in the country are doing.
The municipal governments of Don Salvador Benedicto and Toboso earlier announced that as part of their efforts to stop the spread of the virus in their jurisdiction, they issued orders mandating employees to get vaccinated.
Mayor Marxlen Dela Cruz said he will not renew the contracts of job order employees of the municipal government who are not unvaccinated effective January 2022.
For his part, Toboso Mayor Richard Jaojoco announced that employees of the municipal government are required to submit a vaccination card or a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT- PCR) test result for work effective December 16, 2021.
Lacson said the government cannot make it mandatory but “we could come up with policies that encourage local government employees to get vaccinated.”
