A FATHER killed his live-in partner and children before proceeding to kill himself inside their house at Greenland Subdivision, Himamaylan City early Saturday morning, August 21, 2021.
Police identified the fatalities as 24-year-old Mary Rose Egca and her babies one-year-old Ruth Esther Diaz and seven-month-old Job Diaz, all residents of the said place.
The suspect, who was identified by police as Raymundo Diaz, shot himself and later died at a hospital in Bacolod City.
Himamaylan City Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Romeo Vargas said Egca was preparing to leave with her children to celebrate her birthday in her hometown of Binalbagan when she had a heated argument with the suspect.
Egca’s house helper, whom they have requested not be identified, told police that she heard several gunshots inside the house. When she checked inside, she found the lifeless bodies of Mary Rose and Ruth at the bed of their room, while Job was also found dead by the door.
She said she also found Diaz slumped in the room after he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head and was rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City for treatment but later died.
Based on police investigation, the couple always quarreled due to jealousy.
The police said the suspect used a super .38 revolver, which was recovered beside him after killing his family and himself.
