IN THE bid to drum up the interest of the residents in the government’s vaccination program, the City Government of La Carlota is offering rice incentives for vaccinated senior citizens.
La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalandoon said senior citizens who received their first dose were each given five kilos of rice and additional five kilos following their full inoculation.
He admitted that there is still a low turnout of senior citizen vaccination in the city, with only about 50 percent of them getting the first jab despite the high turnout in the overall population of the city.
Currently, about 28 percent of those eligible for vaccination in La Carlota have been vaccinated so far.
Meanwhile, Jalandoon reaffirmed their commitment to support the reelection bid of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer in 2022, adding that some city and barangay officials have already signed a manifesto.
“I am giving the tandem [of Lacson and Ferrer] a perfect score from a scale of 1 to 10 [because] they have superb performance in managing the province,” Jalandoon said.
“Why change when they have good performance in running the province?” he asked.
Without naming the person, Jalandoon disclosed that there is a possibility that he may be challenged in the election next year and the supposed challenger is an incumbent city councilor.
“I have been prepared for any opponent since the time that I assumed the mayorship,” he said. (TDE)
