THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, led by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, led the turnover of 239 units of laptops worth P8,365,000 and checks worth P3,080,000 to Department of Education (DepEd)-Division of Negros Occidental.

The financial assistance was intended for the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program, which will benefit the 40 literacy volunteers, 3,694 ALS learners, 15 Special Education (Sped) literacy volunteers, and 928 Sped learners.

The laptops are intended for use of the teachers.

The turnover ceremony was held at the Social Hall, Provincial Capitol Building in Bacolod City on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

The said projects were funded through the Provincial School Board (PSB).

Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Marsette Sabbaluca thanked the Provincial Government for extending assistance that could help improve the educational projects and programs through the PSB.

This will help ensure the continuity of learning despite the present pandemic, she said.

Lacson hopes that the projects will be used according to their purpose and that more teachers will be receiving more educational projects from the Provincial Government in the future.

Provincial Board Member Juvy Pepello, who represents the Liga ng Mga Barangay-Negros Occidental, also distributed USBs to the said group. The USBs contained anti-drug-abuse campaign materials for the students.

Present in the activity were Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator, Rayfrando Diaz, ALS coordinator Yolly Salem, Sped coordinator Carmelita Segara, and the district school supervisors, among others.
