A 28-year-old man was dead on arrival after being involved in a road accident in Mapandan on Sunday night, October 9.
Victim Leo Bonifacio, a resident of Barangay Nilombot, Mapandan, was speeding his motorcycle along the provincial road in Barangay Nilombot when he lost control on negotiating the curve, crashed into a concrete post, and was thrown down to the pavement.
The victim, who sustained a critical wound on the head, was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead. Investigation showed Bonifacio was drunk all day after a series of drinking spree, but he insisted on riding.
Authorities urge the public not to drive when under the influence of alcohol, and to always wear a helmet when driving.
Meanwhile, another motorcycle rider Yasser Al Dossary, 28, resident of Barangay Balingasay in Bolinao, died on Sunday morning, October 9 when he hit a concrete post after losing control of the handle bar.
