BACOLOD City – A call center agent was arrested in a joint entrapment operation of the Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit Region 6 and Police Station 8 at the city’s Goldenfields Commercial Complex Tuesday night, Oct. 11.
Police Station 8 commander, Police Major Joery Puerto, said a 19-year-old woman only identified as Maria went to their station crying and asking for help.
She said the suspect, who was posing as a foreigner named Max Cowell, threatened to spread her nude photos online if she won’t accompany him or give him money.
The police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Dennis James Traza, a resident of Golden Ville Subdivision in Barangay Mansilingan.
The police convinced Maria to “play along” as part of the entrapment operation to arrest Traza.
Police recovered the suspect’s mobile phone which contained the complainant’s nude pictures.
Traza was detained at the Police Station 8. He faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009./PN
