ANTIQUE – Intermittent light to moderate southwest monsoon rains prompted the Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to warn municipalities and barangays of possible flash floods and landslides.
“The prevailing weather in Antique is cloudy skies with intermittent light to moderate rains which could trigger possible flash floods and landslides and localized thunderstorms,” stated an advisory from PDRRMO chief Broderick Train on Monday.
Train also ordered the activation of the Provincial Emergency Operation Center to “blue alert” status.
This should prompt Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils and Response Clusters to maintain close coordination and monitoring to ensure operational readiness and prompt response to possible adverse effects of the local weather disturbance.
Train urged “people living near mountain slopes and low-lying and flood-prone areas…to take the necessary precautionary measures to protect lives and properties.”
He also told fishing boats and small sea crafts not to venture out to sea at this time./PN
