CAPIZ – Over 1, 000 individuals in this province have so far been apprehended for not wearing facemasks, a violation of Provincial Ordinance No. 082 – 2020.
According to Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) information officer Police Major Ruby Magallanes, 1,050 violators have been issued with citation tickets.
Mambusao town had the highest number apprehensions at 190, followed by Roxas City (116) and Ivisan (110).
Other towns and their respective number of violators apprehended were the following: Cuartero – 42, Dao – 48, Dumalag – 37, Dumarao – 29, Jamindan – 32, Maayon – 41, Panay – 37, Panitan – 75, Pilar – 70, Pontevedra – 43, President Roxas – 85, Sapian – 23, Sigma – 14 , and Tapaz – 18.
The CPPO, upon directive of Gov. Fredenil Castro, has intensified the enforcement of Provincial Ordinance No. 082 – 2020 requiring people to observance the minimum public health standards, especially the wearing of facemasks.
Castro cited the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
CPPO director Police Colonel Winston De Belen reminded the public that violation of Provincial Ordinance No. 082-2020 has penalties.
Meantime, Roxas City’s Mayor Ronnie Dadivas also issued an executive order adopting minimum health protocols effective immediately in the bid also to address the increasing number of COVID-19 in this city.
Under the provincial ordinance, the first offense gets a reprimand while the second, third and succeeding offenses have monetary fine.
For the second offense, the fine is P1,000 or imprisonment for a period of three days, or both, at the discretion of the court.
For the third and succeeding offenses, the fine is P2,000 or imprisonment for a period of 10 days, or both at the discretion of the court./PN
