BACOLOD City – Twenty-two mayoralty and vice mayoralty bets in Negros Occidental were already assured of winning even before yesterday’s elections. They were running unopposed.
Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Vice Mayor Ramon Torres were expected to be reelected.
Also unopposed were:
* Mayor John Rey Tabujara and Vice Mayor Anna Liza Soriano of Cauayan
* Mayor John Paul Alvarez and Vice Mayor Genaro Rafael Alvarez of Ilog
* Mayor Jose Maria Alonso and Vice Mayor Jimmy Gavan of Pontevedra
* Mayor Narciso Javelosa and Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva of Sagay City
* Mayor Renato Gustilo and Vice Mayor Christopher Carmona of San Carlos City
* Mayor Maria Gina Montilla Lizares, and Vice Mayor Oscar Montila of Sipalay City
* Mayor Manuel Escalante and Vice Mayor Edgard Pagayonan of Manapla
* Mayor Marxlen Dela Cruz and Vice Mayor Nehemia de la Cruz of Don Salvador Benedicto
* Mayor Marvin Malacon of E.B. Magalona
* Vice Mayor Lilia Decolongon of Cadiz City
Also assured of victory ahead of the polls were Pulupandan mayoralty bet Antonio Esteban Suatengco and Vice Mayor Miguel Antonio Peña.
However, Suantengco passed away earlier this year, and he was substituted by his son Lorenzo “Enzo” Suatengco./PN
