BACOLOD City – Two lawyers from Negros Occidental were named as Bacolod City’s next city administrator and secretary-to-the-mayor when Mayor-elect Albee Benitez assume his post at noon of June 30.
Atty. Pacifico Maghari III is the incoming city administrator while Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu will be Benitez’s secretary.
Maghari is also a certified public accountant and had served the local government of Talisay City, Negros Occidental as executive assistant for finance. He is concurrently the head of the Talisay Housing Authority.
Benitez said Maghari will, among others, coordinate the work of all city government offices and establish and maintain a sound personnel program “be it in the frontline of the delivery of administrative support services, especially those related to man-made and natural disasters and calamities, and perform other duties and functions as may be prescribed by law or ordinance.”
For his part, Chiu said his goal is to assist Benitez in bringing “meaningful change” to Bacolod.
According to Benitez, Chiu shall take charge and be in custody of all records and documents of the city, its offices and departments.
He shall keep the seal and affix the same with his signature to all ordinances and resolutions signed by the mayor and all other official documents and papers of the government as may be required by law or ordinance, and others, Benitez added.
Maghari and Chiu are also members of the transition team of Benitez./PN
