BACOLOD City -This city registered a new record after topping the third leg of the National Vaccination Drive – 3 (NVD-3) for coronavirus disease-2019(COVOD-19) in Western Visayas with the highest number of vaccines percentage-wise.
Doctor Edwin Miraflor, Jr., officer-in-charge of the City Health Office(CHO), said the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force(EOC-TF) and the local COVID-19 Vaccination Council,
achieved a 66.98 percent accomplishment rate by inoculating 22, 949 Bacolodnons during the period from Feb. 9 until Feb.15.
He added the figure brings the team closer to the 34, 265 targets set by the Department of Health(DOH)- VI.
Next to Bacolod is Capiz with a 54.70 percent accomplishment record, followed by Negros Occidental, 43.34 percent; Iloilo Province, 37.43 percent; Aklan, 33.62 percent; Antique, 31.61 percent; Guimaras, 28.69 percent and Iloilo City with 20.09 percent.
Doctor Chris Sorongon, deputy director of the EOC-TF said the city also jabbed the most number of minors at 539 on Day One of the 5-11 years old vaccination roll out on Feb.14,
During the first leg of the National Vaccination Drive, based on the record of the Regional Vaccination Operations Center showed that Bacolod administered a total of 70, 752 doses of the city’s original target that was set at 66, 171 by the DOH, in
the three-day vaccination (Nov. 29 to Dec. 1).
Sorongon said, “It was amazing. It was an impressive feat of cooperation and showed that public-private partnership is alive and well in the city, especially in this time of the pandemic.”/PN
