ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. hopes that this 2022 there won’t be a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections.
“Tani wala lang so that we can go back to normal. I hope COVID-19 will not come back,” said Defensor.
COVID-19 cases in the province are declining.
Defensor expressed confidence that the ongoing vaccination against COVID-19 would prevent surges.
“Nagabakuna kag naga-booster kita that’s why there’s a big possibility that indi sia (case surge) matabo sa aton,” he said.
But the governor is not complacent.
“Nakita ko ang Metro Manila. Daw nagasaka sila (cases). It can happen to us, so we are preparing for any event or surge,” said Defensor.
Of particular concern is the availability of beds in district hospitals including Iloilo Provincial Hospital, medicines and supplies, human resource, etc.
Defensor also ordered that the COVID-19 Critical Care Unit of the Iloilo Provincial Hospital severe cases, and he plans to establish one, too, at the Rep. Pedro Trono Memorial District Hospital in Guimbal town.
Again, he campaigned for reverse isolation in homes to protect senior citizens and persons with comorbidities./PN
