ILOILO – A total of 37,760 individuals were inoculated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the national vaccination days or “Bayanihan Bakunahan” in this province.
Data (as of 6 a.m. on Nov. 30 ) from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) office showed 37,760 Ilonggos received their jabs – 34,523 first dose, 3,021 second dose and 216 booster shots.
Broken down per local goverment unit (LGU): Ajuy (383), Alimodian (757), Anilao (799), Badiangan (406), Balasan (1,066), Banate (539), Barotac Nuevo (724), Barotac Viejo (406), Batad (360), Bingawan (769), Cabatuan (816), Calinog (1,559), Carles (627), Passi City (1,283), Concepcion (903), Dingle (970), Dueñas (382), Estancia (1,403), Guimbal (759), Igbaras (548), Janiuay (1,275), Leganes (909), Lemery (2,845), Maasin (720), Mina (663), New Lucena (394), Oton (579), Pavia (1,212), Pototan (1,318), San Dionisio (1,017), San Enrique (534), San Joaquin (2,234), San Miguel (559), San Rafael (532), Santa Barbara (2,715), Sara (2,073), and Zarraga (1,012).
The towns of Tubungan, Leon, Miag-ao, Lambunao, and Dumangas are yet to submit their data as of press time.
Some 222 residents of Iloilo City also received anti-COVID shots at the West Visayas State University – Cultural Center and other vaccination sites.
Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, PHO head, is optimistic the number of vaccinees could rise to reach their target of 338,716 people.
Quiñon appealed to Ilonggos to participate in the three-day vaccination drive.
There were 221 vaccination sites across the province.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. earlier expressed contentment on the first day of the “Bayanihan Bakunahan.”
According to Defensor, the vaccination areas have been properly set up, and many volunteers assisted in the LGUs.
The capitol also hired 1,092 vaccinators composed of doctors, nurses and nursing attendants.
“Ang tanan nga partners naton from the national government to the non-government organizations (and the) private sector… nagbuloligay para lang malab-ot ang target naton,” he added.
As of Nov. 29, a total of 791,039 people received at least one of dose of COVID vaccine while 512,855 were fully vaccinated.
The LGUs with highest accomplishment rate were:
* Guimbal – 84 percent of its 25,302 target population
* Zarraga – 79 percent of its 19,157 target population
* Bingawan – 72 percent of its 11,371 target population
* Mina – 72 percent of its 17,616 target population
* Concepcion – 71 percent of its 32,290 target population
* Batad – 66 percent of its 15,935 target population
* Balasan – 66 percent of its 24,755 target population
* Badiangan – 65 percent of its 20,206 target population
* Anilao – 64 percent of its 21,461 target population
* Dueñas – 63 percent of its 25,617 target population.
Iloilo needs to vaccinate 1,448,757 individuals to achieve herd immunity./PN
