The city government opened five major vaccination sites for this.
The vaccinees included “walk-ins” (those who did not preregister) and students from other provinces in Western Visayas but studying in Iloilo City.
According to the Iloilo City Vaccination Team, 654 youngsters were vaccinated at the Megaworld inoculation site; 971 at SM City Iloilo; 864 at Robinsons Place Jaro; 478 at the University of San Agustin; and 569 at the Ateneo de Iloilo.
COVID-19 vaccines manufactured by Pfizer were administered to the youngsters.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said vaccinating minors is also in preparation for the return of face-to-face classes.
“I am very happy with the response of our community on the vaccination of minors,” said Treñas.
Soon, according to the mayor, the city government would also open its vaccination to minors whose parents are working here.
“We only need to see the employment identification cards of the parents and birth certificates of the minors. We need to give protection to as many people as possible,” said Treñas./PN
