ILOILO – Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) fatalities in this province reached 1,004 (as of Nov. 4), data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed.
Oton town had the most casualties with 85, followed by Pavia with 65.
Here’s the breakdown of COVID deaths in other local government units (LGUs): Passi City (59), Tigbauan (50), Miag-ao (46), Santa Barbara (39), Pototan (39), Dumangas (38), Barotac Nuevo (36), Leganes (34), Banate (31), Cabatuan (28), Alimodian (27), Guimbal (27), San Miguel (25), Lambunao (29), San Joaquin (27), Estancia (21), Leon (19), Barotac Viejo (18), Badiangan (18), Maasin (16), Carles (15), Calinog (17), Dingle (15), New Lucena (13), Sara (14), San Enrique (12), Zarraga (11), Batad (11), Ajuy (10), Igbaras (10), Balasan (10), Concepcion (11), Mina (nine), Anilao (eight), Tubungan (seven), Dueñas (seven), Bingawan (six), Lemery (four), San Rafael (two), and San Dionisio (one).
The most affected age groups are as follows:
* 61 years old and above – 662
* 51 to 60 years old – 181
* 41 to 50 years old – 77
* 31 to 40 years old – 39
* 21 to 30 years old – 27
* 11 to 20 years old – 10
*one to 10 years old – three
As of Nov. 4, the province had 34,507 total confirmed coronavirus cases – 1,203 active (three percent) and 32,300 recovered (94 percent).
The LGUs with high cumulative cases were Oton (2,931), Santa Barbara (2,067), Pavia (2,056), Passi City (1,906), Pototan (1,361), Miag-ao (1,329), San Joaquin (1,238), Guimbal (1,159), Lambunao (1,011), and Concepcion (980).
Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, PHO head, continues to encourage the public to get vaccinated to prevent severe COVID.
She also encouraged the Ilonggos not to choose vaccine brands.
As of Nov. 3, a total of 374,462 people – 26 percent of the target population – have been fully inoculated against the viral disease./PN
