ILOILO City – Several areas in 12 barangays here were placed under 72-hour surgical lockdown after recording at least two positive cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Based on Mayor Jerry Treñas’ Executive Order No. 88, the surgical lockdown began on Sept. 5 at 12 p.m. and is set to end on Sept. 8 at 11:59 a.m. unless a longer period is required.
The areas and their respective COVID-19 cases for the last seven days are as follows:
* Mandurriao (Oñate De Leon, three cases; Guzman-Jesena, four; and Dungon-C, five)
* Arevalo (Santo Niño Norte, five; and Santo Domingo, nine)
* La Paz (Lopez Jaena Sur, four)
* Lapuz (Bo. Obrero, three)
* Jaro (Lanit, three; Tagbak, four; and Cubay, two)
* City Proper (Santo Rosario-Duran, three; and Nonoy, three)
Meanwhile, the specific areas under surgical lockdown are:
* Block 8, Lot [x] Santo Domingo Phase 2, Oñate De Leon
* Block 7, Lot [x] Imperial VI, Guzman Jesena
* portion of New Homes Phase 2, Dungon C
* portions of Zone 4, Santo Niño Norte
* portion along Osmeña Street, and Barangay Hall of Santo Domingo
* transmitter area across Latter-day Saints Church, Lopez Jaena Sur
* portion of Zone 1, Bo. Obrero
* portions of Relocation Site at Zone 5, Lanit
* Lot [x], Block 42, San Juan Avenue, Sta. Rosa Subdivision, Tagbak,
* portion of San Jose Subdivision, Tagbak
* one residential compound; near Sitio Little Janiuay; near [x] Gospel Church in Cubay
* one house; near [a] Hotel, near Barangay Hall of Santo-Rosario-Duran
* building beside [x] Hotel located at No. 3[x], Valeria Extension, Nonoy
Under EO 88, these areas are under curfew from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Residents are advised to refrain from unnecessary travel until the COVID-19 testing and sanitation process have been completed.
All means of public and private transportation in the area as well as unauthorized movement of persons along the streets of the affected barangays are restricted.
Exempted from the restrictions are persons in need of immediate hospital care and management and other authorized persons.
Meanwhile, mandatory reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing for all high-risk and medium-risk contacts of COVID-19 positive patients will be implemented.
The city government will also provide food and medical needs for the affected residents, the mayor said.
Persons above 65 years old or below 18,those who are pregnant, and those suffering from any comorbidity or immunodeficiency must also stay at home, except for the purpose of obtaining essential goods and services, or for work.
The sale and consumption of any form of liquor or alcoholic beverages is also prohibited, and strict border controls will placed in the affected areas for the duration of the surgical lockdown.
