ILOILO – Acting Mayor Vicente Flores Jr. of Oton town issued a closure order against a beach resort that was found to have violated the health and safety protocols established by the local government unit and the Iloilo provincial government.
On Sept. 7, Flores ordered the closure of Padi Beach Resort located in Barangay Poblacion South.
According to the order, the resort was opening despite its being “under the category of businesses that should remain closed”, and allowing dine-ins.
The closure took effect Sept. 7 until Sept. 15.
The beach resort’s operation was discovered after a concerned citizen complained that the resort was allegedly selling expired soft drinks.
Evelyn Cabrillos, in an interview with Aksyon Radyo Iloilo, said she went with some friends to the resort last Sept. 5.
They reportedly bought four 1.5 liters of soft drinks and took one home.
On Sept. 6 they discovered that the drink’s expiration date was Aug. 14.
The resort management insisted they did not open the beach resort; they only allowed dine-in because they believed the provincial government was allowing it.
As for the complaint of expired soft drinks, it will be further investigated by the management.
