BACOLOD City – The city government’s Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) distributed financial assistance to 454 persons with disability (PWDs).
The fund was sourced out from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
The distribution was held at the lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center yesterday.
The beneficiaries, who were residents of this city, received P3,000 each.
DSSD head Pacit Tero facilitated the distribution on behalf of Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Due to restrictions brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, Tero said the financial assistance was distributed in two batches to avoid overcrowding.
A total of 222 beneficiaries were accommodated in the morning, and 232 in the afternoon.
The AICS is part of DSWD’s protective services for the poor, marginalized and vulnerable/disadvantaged individuals.
Another tranche of financial assistance will be distributed to 3,943 beneficiaries, including fire victims of Barangays 12 and Alijis, and market vendors and other sectors, on Sept. 2 and Sept. 3, Tero said./PN
