KALIBO, Aklan – The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases here has significantly increased by 53 percent, according to OCTA Research.
It placed the capital town at 37th place among areas with the most average daily COVID-19 cases.
Kalibo was the only municipality in Western Visayas in the Top 40. It logged 55 new cases per day from Aug. 5 to 11 compared to 36 cases from July 29 to Aug. 4.
Iloilo City, meanwhile, ranked 21st. It posted a 41 percent rise in cases, from 64 to 90.
Intensive care unit (ICU) utilization rate is at moderate level in Kalibo (67 percent), the OCTA Research’s latest monitoring report as of Aug. 12, 2021 showed.
The average daily attack rate (ADAR) per 100,000 population in Kalibo is at 64.20 percent – higher than the country’s ADAR of 8.96 percent.
The independent research group composed mainly of alumni and faculty members of the University of the Philippines ranked Quezon City No. 1 in average daily cases – these rose to 467 from 310.
Manila’s cases, on the other hand, rose to 304 from 209.
Cebu City is No.3. It experienced a slightly increase in average daily cases from 250 to 275.
OCTA also included in its list of areas with the highest average daily cases Davao City (175 cases), Cagayan de Oro (173 cases), Pasig City (171 cases), Taguig City (169 cases,) and Caloocan City (162 cases)./PN
