SAN REMIGIO, Antique – Barangay Barangbang is on lockdown until Aug. 15 due to a surge in cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). It started on Aug. 8.
According to Mayor Margarito Mission Jr., the Municipal Health Office (MHO) recorded (as of Aug. 6) 10 active COVID-19 cases in the village.
There is a need to contain COVID-19’s spread, he stressed, so as not to overwhelm the town’s rural health unit and staff, he stressed.
Under the barangay lockdown:
* all returning residents and Authorized Person Outside of Residence are strongly advised to self-quarantine for five days upon arrival
* all returning residents are to report within 12 hours upon their arrival to their health worker to ensure effective monitoring of potential COVID-19 cases
* all individuals must minimizing travel outside the home, especially if sick
* all individuals must wearing face covering around people when it is necessary to leave the home
* all individuals must wash hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer, especially after touching frequently used items or surfaces
* disinfect frequently-used items and surfaces
As of Aug. 6, San Remigio recorded 55 active COVID-19 cases, three deaths and 112 cases that recovered.
The 55 active cases were in barangays Poblacion (20), Bugo (one), Trinidad (two), Iguiridon (four), Ramon Magsaysay (one), Barangbang (10), Baladjay (one), Maragubdub (two), Nagbangi 1 (two), La Union (one), Bagumbayan (three), Walker (one), Cadolonan (two), Carawisan 2 (one), Sumaray (one), Sinundolan (one), Vilvar (one), and Nasulo (one).
