CAGAYAN de Oro City 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez is urging police commanders on the ground to strengthen law enforcement.
Rodriguez even echoed his support to the regional police-10 during the joint Regional Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development-Technical Working Group (RAGPTD-TWG) meeting recently in Camp Alagar, here.
Rodriguez said during the budget hearing of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), he gained favorable results for the police force by securing millions of pesos in commitments for the police.
The said commitments such as P29 million for the development of a region-wide communication system that would connect all northern Mindanao borders and police stations to the Regional Office in Cagayan de Oro;
P20 million for the completion of Regional Headquarters in Camp Alagar; and P30 million for the purchase of the lot occupied by PNP Maharlika Station in Brgy. Cugman; and the purchase of five vehicles for the City Mobile Force, Mobile Patrol Unit, Traffic Unit, and Regional Headquarters.
The lawmaker also vowed to refile the eight PNP-related bills that did not pass during the 18th Congress, namely the National Police Clearance System Act; An Act Restructuring the PNP Organization; An Act Conferring the Cadets of the PNPA the Status of Government Employees and Granting them Civil Service Eligibility; An Act Increasing the Female Quota on PNP Recruitment; PRS-PNP Recruitment and Selection Act; Forensic DNA Database Act; Amendment of RA 6963; and PNP Revitalized and Capability Enhancement (RACE).
Aside from that, Rodriguez has pledged to donate P20,000 in personal funds to the PNP’s Malasakit Boxes to assist police officers in need of medical assistance.
PBGen Lawrence Coop, PNP-10 regional director, lauded the RAGPTD for their efforts in implementing projects and programs that strengthen PRO-10.
