Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force, said that the city government of Davao through the Vaccination Cluster is pushing for the full rollout of the school-based vaccination drive before the face-to-face classes start in November this year.
Last month, Education Secretary Vice President Sara Duterte announced that for August 22 until October 31, 2022 options are indicated in the Department Order which states that the first is the five-day in-person classes and secondly, the blended modality. This is where [schools may opt to do] three days in-person [classes] and then two days remote, or distance learning, and then after that they can shift to four days of in-person classes and one-day distance learning.
However, from November 2, 2022, and beyond, all schools must shift to in-person classes with the implementation of “physical distancing whenever possible”.
“We are pushing forward before the classes start pero kung mahitabo na kinahanglan pa gyud ta magbuhat ug mga school-based vaccinations even if nagstart na ang mga klase, I think buhaton gihapon siya sa atoang Vaccination Cluster just to make sure that all of our students are covered and protected with the vaccines,” Schlosser said.
Meanwhile, Schlosser announced that the sectoral vaccination drive continues to private establishments and offices.
“We are doing sectoral vaccination also kasi may mga establishments and companies and offices nga ga request ug mobile vaccination or on-site vaccination, we are also catering that,” she said.
She also announced that vaccination sites in the city’s 18 district health centers will resume operation from Monday to Friday.
She reiterated that although the vaccine does not promise protection from infection, it ensures protection against getting a moderate, severe, or critical type of Covid-19 that may result in death.
