The regional office of the Department of Health (DOH 11) launched “PinasLakas” at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, Tamayong Prayer Mountain, Calinan District, Davao City on Tuesday.
“PinasLakas” is a campaign that aims to bring vaccination closer to the people and to strengthen settings-based vaccination: when people complete their primary and booster vaccines, they will be able to live and work worry-free; resume work and learn more safely, and avoid expenses associated with Covid-19 hospitalizations.
In Davao Region, DOH 11 identified places of worship for the settings-based vaccination.
As of July 18, 2022, there are a total of 3,215,255 individuals in the Davao Region that are fully vaccinated (primary series 1st and 2nd dose); unfortunately, only 513,312 have received their first booster shot.
“Consider the Minimum Public Health Standards as part of our lifestyle. Ensure that all of us, those who are eligible for vaccination, get vaccinated to secure the wall of immunity. These are the reasons why we are convened today and celebrate the “PinasLakas” vaccination campaign against Covid-19,” said DOH Undersecretary Abdullah Dumama in his speech.
Dumama emphasized the importance to secure the vaccination coverage of the senior citizens and the 90 percent of the elderly to be vaccinated against Covid-19 as they often become victims of Covid-19.
He also said there is a need to ensure that 50 percent of the eligible target population gets vaccinated with a booster dose against Covid-19.
“Ayun sa pag-aaral, bumababa ang proteksiyong hatid ng bakuna pagluipas ng 4 hanggang 6 na buwan kung kaya hinihikayat na magpa booster dose. Muli, kung nais nating maibalik ang ating uri ng pamumuhay noong bago pa dumating ang Covid, sana ay patuloy tayong makinig at sumunod sa mga patnubay na ibigay ng ating mga kinauukulan. Manatiling sumunod sa MPHS at hikayating magpabakuna laban sa Covid-19,” he said.
The presidential directives on the Covid-19 vaccination strategies for the first 100 days envision achieving 90 percent primary series coverage among the A2 population and 50 percent first booster coverage among the general population.
