Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, head of DRRMO, said Wednesday, January 11, the rains caused floods in some barangays, especially in Pta. Taytay where one family was evacuated.
Aside from Barangay Pta. Taytay, she said they are also monitoring the areas of Barangays 3 and Singcang-Airport.
She said that Mayor Alfredo Abelardo also suspended all the classes in elementary and high school levels Wednesday.
Pornan noted that the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC), including the 61 village chiefs, has convened and approved a resolution for the suspension of classes at elementary and high school levels in the city.
“Our barangay officials were tasked to monitor their areas of jurisdiction to ensure the safety of their constituents,” Pornan said.
The barangay officials were also asked to prepare their evacuation center and food assistance.
Pornan said the Department of Social Service and Development (DSSD) along with the DRRMO also prepared the food packs that will be deployed in affected barangays.
She said they are still in blue alert status and in case of an evacuation, their team will assist the affected barangays with food packs,” she said.
Pornan also urged parents to ensure the safety of their children during rainy days.
