Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Department of Health (DOH) is currently seeking the approval of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for the rollout of COVID-19 booster doses of minors aged 12 to 17 in the country.
Health Usec Maria Vergeire told reporters that the DOH has already forwarded its request to the FDA for the approval of its EUA – emergency use authorization for boosters of the younger age group.
“We’ve already submitted a request for the EUAs to be amended for the fourth dose and for our booster shots for 12-17 years old. Once all of these processes are done, we can be able to issue out the guidelines and implement the fourth doses, and if ever the FDA sees that booster shots can already be administered to 12 to 17 years old,” Vergeire said.
In March 2022, the health department has also sought for the approval of a greenlighted EUA for 4th doses of Filipinos with comorbidities and senior citizens.
Based on the DOH’s latest data, there are now 73.9% of the target Filipino population who have received 2 doses of various vaccines against COVID-19. TNF
