Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Presidential aspirant Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Saturday, Nov. 20 has paid a visit to the Pagasa island near Palawan for a consultation with local authorities regarding the recent harassment of Chinese Coast Guard vessels to PH boats at the Ayungin Shoal.
Pag-asa Island is situated 508 kilometers from Palawan and is within the municipality of Kalayaan in the West Philippine Sea, and is near the Ayungin Shoal where the incident between the Chinese vessels and the PH boats transpired.
Lacson is going to get a briefing from the Armed Forces of the Philippines WesCom regarding issues on the disputed West Philippine Sea and is reported to talk to local fishermen in the area.
The Senator is the chairman of the Senate Committee on National Defense and Security, Peace, Unification and Reconciliation.
