TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Department of Education (DepEd) is offering students several teaching-learning modalities as options once school year opens in August.
Regional Director Estela Cariño said online education is just one of the options, others include modular, blended, or through radio and television.
“We encourage participation of all stakeholders, especially learners and parents, in polishing the Learning Continuity Plan” RD Cariño said.
She also said that students and the parents will choose among these modalities. It will also depend on the situation in the grounds.
For students who have no access to internet, a modular delivery mode is recommended by the department. “At the end of the day, it’s safety of all that DepEd prioritizes”, she said
Meanwhile, with the new normal, face-to-face learning may still be implemented in areas without COVID-19 cases but with strict observance of safety measures and protocols such as minimal number of students in a classroom, physical distancing and wearing of face masks.
RD Cariño also said that they are after the safety of the learners which is why the department will adhere to the directives of the local officials.
“The strategies are ready for the continuous learning of the learners but the resumption of the classes will still depend on the situation and decision of the authorities”, she added.
For teachers, RD Cariño said that they will be trained soon as to the modality they will implement.
DepEd also will require private schools to submit their learning continuity plan for the new normal.
