THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has declared a moratorium for incoming locally stranded individuals (LSIs) to the province until September 7, 2020.
Lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, said the moratorium is only for incoming LSIs and that outgoing from the province are allowed to leave the province.
Zeahard Caelian, head of the Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT), said that although the National Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases has not approved the moratorium requested by the province, they had not sent LSIs to the province since August 28 until the entire duration of “Timeout Weekend.”
He said that the Provincial Government has requested an extension.
“There are still too many LSIs waiting to return to the province,” he revealed.
Diaz said the quarantine facilities of the province are not yet available for additional LSIs.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier said quarantine facilities have been prepared in case there will be Covid-19 positive individuals during the Covid mass testing that ended Monday, August 31.
