Captain Dax Santillan, officer-in-charge of Police Station 6, identified the victim as Josery Jarabilla, 51, a resident of Purok Planeta, Barangay Taculing.
Santillan said Jarabilla, a security guard assigned at Bredco Port, was walking towards Purok Planeta when unidentified assailants on board a sport utility vehicle fired at him several times and fled.
Jarabilla sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
He was brought to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, but he did not survive.
Police recovered from the scene several empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol and a .9mm caliber revolver.
Santillan said the victim has been receiving threats before the incident.
“It’s well-planned to kill the victim in the area. His activities were probably monitored by the suspects,” he said.
He added the area was too dark and there was no installed closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera near the crime scene.
Santillan said that they have no lead yet on the identities of the assailants who were said to be three armed men.
He also urged witnesses and persons who may have information to come out and help authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
