TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city will be the first local government in the country to model the world class state-of-the-art police station following the donation of some P83 million from the Public Safety Savings and Loans Association, Inc. (PSSLAI) for the implementation of the said project.
During the recent virtual unveiling and groundbreaking of the project at barangay Laya West, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr., PSSLAI chief executive officer retired Maj. Gen. Lucas Managuelod and Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero together with Tabuk City Police office officers participated in the formal launching of the modern police station in the country.
The Tabuk City Police office will be the pilot project for a standard, world class police station which will be the first of its kind in the country since the launching of the program by the PSSLAI.
For his part, retired Brig. Gen. Fidel Posadas, an official of the PSSLAI, disclosed that Tabuk city was selected as the host of the PNP’s pilot project because the local government led by Mayor Estrañero donated a 2,000-square meter lot making it easier and more practical for PSSLAI to allocate the funds required for the construction of the 3-storey world class police station.
He claimed that PSSLAI had the courage to donate the funds to Tabuk City because the association is owned by the members coming from the PNP and Bureau of Fire protection (BFP).
Posadas lauded the association members for supporting the donation that was made for the construction of the Tabuk City Police Office modern station as it will showcase the world class police building where the same will be replicated in some 5 areas around the country in the future.
The retired police official also expressed the association’s gratitude to Mayor Estrañero and Vice Mayor Dick Bal-o who represented the local legislative body, for their consistent support to the PNP through the Tabuk City Police office.
For is part, Estrañero expressed the sincerest gratitude of the people and officialdom of Tabuk City to Azurin and all officials and members of the PSSLAI for selecting the city as the first to be able to implement and eventually use the top-notch police facility for effective and efficient anti-criminality, peacekeeping, anti-insurgency and anti-terrorism efforts.
Mayor Estrañero assured the PNP leadership and the PSSLAI that the local government will continue allocating funds for the Tabuk City Police office building’s equipment and other requirements that will surely become the country’s first cutting edge police station worthy of emulation.
The 2,000-square meter lot that was donated by the local government to the Tabuk City Police office and the PNP was part of the property that was purchased by the local government over 2 years ago where the same was envisioned to host the various offices of the law enforcement agencies and concerned government agencies for them to be able to sustain the improvement of their services to the people of Tabuk and Kalinga.
Mayor Estrañero underscored that the realization of the PNP project in the lot that was purchased by the local government surely shows the value of the required vision of leaders to be able to project the future needs of the city with the fast-growing population due to migration of people from the rural areas to the urban centers to seek employment and economic activities.
