Nine hundred ninety more families yesterday received P4.95 million in financial assistance from the National Housing Authority, coursed through the provincial government of Negros Occidental.
Of the families affected by typhoon, 699 beneficiaries are residents of Pontevedra, 215 in Victorias City and 76 in Cadiz City.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. led the distribution of financial assistance to 76 families at the Cadiz City arena.
Each of the typhoon affected families whose houses were destroyed by Typhoon Odette, received P5,000 NHA financial assistance.
Mayor Jose Maria Alonso also assisted Lacson in the distribution of NHA assistance to 699 residents of Pontevedra.
On May 30, Lacson also distributed more than P36 million in housing assistance to 7,234 families in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Escalante said that the 76 family beneficiaries in Cadiz City also received P5,000 financial assistance from the city government, and a lesser amount to those whose houses were partially damaged by the typhoon.
The NHA gave P91 million financial assistance to Negros Occidental but distribution to beneficiaries was delayed due to the election ban.
Lacson is also set to distribute similar financial assistance to typhoon affected families in Ilog on June 3.*
