CEBU, Philippines — A total of 430 public schools and 10 private schools in Central Visayas have been endorsed for inclusion in the limited face-to-face classes, Department of Education (DepEd)-7 regional director Salustiano Jimenez said.
Jimenez said that all divisions in Central Visayas, except for Dumaguete City, have schools that are now ready for the face-to-face classes.
He explained that Dumaguete is still contemplating on whether or not to allow holding of physical classes soon.
For Cebu City, 13 schools from the mountain barangays, including a private school, were included in the endorsement. Of the 10 private schools recommended for in-person classes, five are from Mandaue City.
Jimenez said they conducted inspection and asked approval from the local government units as well as the parents before they made the recommendation for final validation by the DepEd national office and the Department of Health.
“Shared responsibility man siya, so naa gyuy concurrence sa LGU and sa parents. Dili pud nako i-forward kung naay dili musugot nila,” said Jimenez.
He said the names of the schools were already submitted to Manila last Monday.
“Na submit na ni nato for final validation sa Central Office and DOH for possible inclusion the expansion come January,” said Jimenez.
The final decision is expected to be out next month. So far, the pilot implementation of limited in-person classes for basic education in eight public schools and two private schools in Central Visayas has been smooth sailing.
“Purya buyag, okay ra gyud gihapon, smooth ra ang sa eight schools and we continue to pray na unta tuloy-tuloy na gyud ni,” said Jimenez. — FPL (FREEMAN)
