THE United Negros Alliance (Unega) is still undecided on whom to support among the national candidates in the upcoming May 2022 elections.
Sagay City Mayor Alfredo “Thirdy” Marañon III, chairman of Unega, said they are still hoping that they would come up with a common candidate for president.
He said they will still meet in December to discuss the presidential elections.
Marañon said at the national level, he is a member of the National Unity Party (NUP).
“Based on my discussion with Representative Leo Rafael Cueva of the Second District, the NUP has not announced who it will support for president,” the mayor said.
Marañon said local officials were given a free hand to decide whom to support, although he said he will personally back whoever Unega will choose.
Love-Negros, on the other hand, also has not made a decision yet on whom to support among the presidential candidates.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he may decide in 2022.
