Dengue cases in Western Visayas, except for Capiz, remained below 500 for the 5th straight week, as the region recorded only 271 cases from September 11 to 17, a report of the Department of Health -Western Visayas, released Sept. 23 said.
This brings the total cases to 12,667, from January to Sept. 17, a 571 percent increase compared to 1,887 cases recorded in the same period last year.
Negros Occidental continues to log the highest number of dengue cases at 4,522, with additional 76 cases recorded from Sept. 11 to 17, DOH WV records further showed. Deaths also totaled at 28.
Bacolod City has 758 cases with nine deaths.
Dengue related deaths in Western Visayas were recorded at 73, with Guimaras having zero dengue-related fatalities.*
