A six-year-old girl from Barangay 12, Bacolod City succumbed to dengue, bringing the total number of dengue-related deaths in the city to 10, as of September 10.
Barangays Mansilingan, Taculing and 12 are considered hot spot areas for dengue by the Bacolod City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (BCESU) due to the increasing number of cases for four consecutive weeks or cases of deaths.
The total reported dengue cases in Bacolod City is 765, based on the BCESU report as of Sept. 10.
The figure is 226.9 percent higher than the number of cases in the previous year, which was 234 with three deaths.
The barangays with highest number of dengue cases are Mansilingan – 101, Taculing – 61, Estefania – 55, Tangub – 52, Villamonte – 47, Singcang – 45, Alijis – 44, Sum ag – 38, Cabug – 38, Mandalagan – 36, Handumanan – 31, Bata – 28, Granada – 24, Banago – 19 and Vista Alegre- 18.
The Bacolod City Health Office conducted fogging operations in Brgys. Bata and 12 last week, as well as the continued education campaign against dengue.*
