Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Following the fatal shooting of 63-year-old radio broadcaster Percy Lapid, the Philippine National Police on Friday, October 7, has released a CCTV image of a ‘person of interest’ in the case.
On Friday’s presser, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has made available a snap of a man believed to have been part of the brutal shooting of the broadcaster on Monday evening in Las Piñas City.
The photo illustrating the person of interest causing along the street where the crime was committed was sourced from a nearby CCTV covering the scene of the crime just moments before Lapid was followed by a 2 men riding a motorcycle.
The person of interest was wearing a white t-shirt bearing a dark pattern in the mid-part with a pink jacket, while his face was blurry and was wearing a face mask.
Police Colonel Restituto Arcangel, who is leading the special investigation said the marking in the man’s shirt matches the shirt worn by the passenger in the motorcycle, citing that it was also recorded in the rear dash cam of the victim’s vehicle before he was killed.
PNP operatives told national media that a photo of the other suspect is yet to be disclosed.
Meanwhile, the agency bared that there is now vital information collected by their operatives to get leads for the case.
Other journalists in the capital region have told the press that Lapid was a straightforward and ‘fearless’ broadcaster, adding that he has been a critic of some abuses by the government including the present and former administration.
