Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Department of Health said in its report on Monday, Oct 3, that new COVID-19 cases nationwide have decreased by 10% from Sept 26 to Oct 2, compared to the previous week, citing a total of 16,017 new COVID-19 cases.
According to its report, all regions have logged a total of 2,288 average new cases daily last week, a figure around 10 percent lower than the week before.
During the said period, 4 critical cases and 34 deaths were also logged by the health department.
The DOH also noted that there are over 700 patients with critical COVID-19 infections admitted in hospitals nationwide today.
There are now over 73 million Filipinos fully vaccinated versus the dreadful virus while only 19 million individuals have received their booster shots.
The Inter-Agency Task Force and the DOH said that fully-vaccinated individuals are now almost at 94% of the target population.
However, health groups including COVID-19 hound Octa Research Group have forecasted that there may be 4,000 daily COVID-19 cases this month due to the voluntary mask mandate, face-to-face classes as well as possible surges from new subvariants outside the country. TNF
