TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Department of Health (DOH) here in region 2 has joined the simultaneous launch of project ‘Bakunahang Bayan’ today, September 27 at SM Tuguegarao Downtown.
The activity is an advocacy to encourage the public to get their booster shots against COVID-19.
In region 2, the health department said it targets to vaccinate 738,242 individuals.
Currently, 24.52 percent have been vaccinated out of over 700,000 people.
The advocacy also aims to vaccinate different sectors that are working in different establishments including bars, markets, offices, malls and partner agencies.
According to DOH, 98 LGUs that have at least three vaccination sites are operational with others moving from house-to-house implementation to ensure that the estimated target numbers will be hit by the end of the first week of October 2022.
Mayor Maila Rosario Ting-Que said the city has complied in the directives of DOH to safe guard and to guarantee the people.
“There was never a time that the DOH did not work hand in hand with the LGUs. For that we thank the DOH for always helping us achieve this goal,” the mayor added.
For the part of SMTD, Assistant Mall Manager Romel S. Uy, said that all their employees are 100 percent vaccinated, while 80 percent of their eligible population have received their second booster shots.
Meanwhile, DOH Assistant Regional Director Dr. Mar Wyn D. Bello said they only have two weeks left, or until October 8 before the deadline of the ‘Pinas Lakas’ vaccination days.
“Sa lahat ng mga swab na ginagawa natin araw-araw, 10 percent of them are tested positive and most of them are unvaccinated,” he said.
Moreover, data states that the most common COVID-19 variants detected here in region 2 are the Omicron strains. TNF
