Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Octa Research Group basing on the Department of Health’s data bared on Monday, August 29, that Isabela, Cagayan along with 5 other Luzon provinces’ COVID-19 positivity rates have remained at high figures.
Based on the COVID-19 hound’s announcement derrived from the DOH’s report, Isabela has a 30.1% positivity rate, while Cagayan has 29.7%.
Isabela’s active COVID-19 cases are at 307 on Monday, August 29, while Cagayan has reported 290.
Both Region 2 provinces have reported higher numbers of COVID-19 infections last week, which was the basis of the Octa Research Group.
The research group defined ‘positivity rate’ as the percentage of COVID-19 positive results taken from tested people in a certain area, while the World Health Organization’s set benchmark for an area’s positivity rate is below 5%.
Alongside neighboring provinces Isabela and Cagayan with reported ‘very high’ COVID-19 positivity rates are Nueva Ecija with 42.5%; Tarlac with 37.3%; Camarines Sur with 46.7%; Albay with 21.2%; and La Union with 20.1%.
Previously, Isabela province was number 2 in the highest positivity rates in Luzon with 47% during the first week of August, while Cagayan had 30.5; a figure almost stagnant and at par with last week’s rate.
With the lowest alert level for COVID-19 hoisted on both provinces by the Inter-Agency Task Force, both provincial governments have urged their respective LGU’s to enforce health protocols to prevent surges. TNF
